With the next harvest season almost upon us, the Grain Transport Safety Network (GTSN) is reminding operators of its recently-released free guide, packed full of essential information on legal mass limits.

There are 84 truck types identified in the GTSN Truck Book, plus a wealth of technical information to guide users.

The purpose of the book, which was 18 months in the making, is to guide loaders and unloaders, transport operators and drivers to accurately identify the mass requirements applying to bulk grain trucks.

GTSN expects it will also be helpful for other bulk commodities transported by bulk tipper trucks.

The GTSN acknowledges contributions to the development of the Truck Book from: Emerald Grain; GrainCorp; Viterra; Ridley; Cargill; Quattro Ports; and Mauri; with the support of Supply Chain Safety Excellence.

A copy of the GTSN Truck Book can be freely downloaded from the GTSN website at http://gtsn.com.au/resources/truck-book/.

The GTSN is a collaborative network of grain industry supply chain participants including loaders and unloaders of grain, freight providers, customers, growers and the government/statutory authorities.

Derek Robjohns, logistics and supply chain manager at Viterra and chair of the GTSN, said the book represented a great win for the grain transport industry.

“The Truck Book is a tremendous effort by all GTSN members and will be a great tool for the industry,” he said.
