Applications closing for Visy’s Female Driver Trainee Program

Visy Female Driver Trainee Program

In response to driver shortages across the industry, Visy Logistics has launched its first in-house Female Driver Trainee Program, aiming to attract people who may not have previously considered truck driving as a career.

Based in Melbourne, it is hoped that the program will assist with Visy’s aim of increasing gender diversity within its driver workforce.

Successful applicants of Visy’s Female Driver Trainee Program will take part in a four-week intensive Driver training course to obtain their Heavy Rigid License.

“Women are a largely untapped source of talent within the transport, logistics and supply chain industry, and there’s really no reason this should be the case,” said Delston Chislett, GM Metro Operations at Visy Logistics.

“In some ways, the timing for the introduction of the program is ideal. With the impacts of COVID-19 hitting traditionally female dominated roles particularly hard – think hospitality and retail – many women are looking for different career opportunities for the future and this provides the perfect opening.”

Once qualified, the applicants will be able to undertake work that includes flexible day shifts and occasional weekend work.

Applications close on 12 October 2020. For more information or to apply, please click here.
