Officers from Traffic Task Force, with the assistance of South West and North West Highway Patrol officers, ran Operation Convoy this week, targeting the heavy vehicles moving soil and waste around the Badgerys Creek Airport in Sydney.
The two-day operation ran from Monday, November 30, to Tuesday, December 1, and 292 heavy vehicles were stopped in that time.
Of those, 277 were drug tested with 10 positive results.
Officers charged drivers with 24 offences around fatigue management issues and licence offences. As well as issuing 67 penalty notices.
A statement on the Traffic and Highway Patrol Command Facebook page said officers would like to thank the vast majority of heavy vehicle drivers who do the right thing on the road and will continue to monitor the movement of heavy vehicles around the Badgerys Creek area.
