1946 Ford Jailbar raffle raises money for MND

Finished in a striking electric blue, this 1946 Ford Jailbar truck – named Jolene – could be yours. She’s being raffled off during the Brisbane Truck Show to help raise money for Motor Neurone Disease (MND) research.

Lovingly restored by National Transport Insurance (NTI), the vintage beauty combines the old-world charm of a bygone era with the new. Jolene took around 1,500 hours to complete. She features a 6-speed Isuzu Automated Manual Transmission and 2020 Isuzu NLR running gear, putting out 110kw of power at 2,800rpm. She’s been finished off with a bespoke interior, fabrication and trimming.

The steel cab and bonnet has been restored, which is complemented by new build fibreglass front guards, grill panel and rear guards. The Jailbar features modern technology that includes an anti-lock braking system (ABS), anti skid regulator and 12 volt LED lighting with halogen headlights. She’s also equipped with modern comforts such as electric windows, air conditioning and a heater/demister with a three-speed fan and outlets for the windscreen, face and floor.

It features a bespoke interior with modern day comforts like air conditioning, heating and electric windows.

This is the latest truck restoration by NTI to raise money for MND – though it’s not the first. For the 2019 Brisbane Truck Show, NTI raffled another a 1946 Ford Jailbar dubbed Roxanne, and prior to that it was a 1946 International Model K5, known as the Green Diamond.

Raffle tickets have been on sale since the end of February, with the winner to be drawn live on the final day of the Brisbane Truck Show.

“We are delighted to be able to host the raffle draw of this spectacularly restored 1946 Ford Jailbar, Jolene, at the 2021 Brisbane Truck Show. The proceeds are all going to a tremendous cause that is near to the hearts of everyone at our Platinum Partner NTI,” said HVIA.

Raffle tickets will be on sale until 2pm on Sunday May 16, 2021, with the winner drawn at 2.30pm.

The vehicle will be registered in Queensland and delivered to the winner, however residents of Western Australia are ineligible.

All of the proceeds of the raffle will go directly to the MND Research Institute of Australia to award the NTI Research Grant, and the MND & Me Foundation.
