ATA and PACCAR unveil new multi-purpose vehicle

PACCAR and the Australian Trucking Association (ATA) have today unveiled a new industry resource in the form of a DAF LF260, which will be used for a variety of initiatives including health checks, wellbeing programs, presentations and more.

The new multi-purpose vehicle was revealed at the Brisbane Truck Show this morning, and according to the ATA, it will be used to connect, educate, support and promote the trucking industry.

It will be available for organisations and associations to use in support of various industry initiatives, with Healthy Heads in Trucks & Sheds to be one of the first to take up the offer.

“Under this exciting partnership, Healthy Heads in Trucks & Sheds, together with OzHelp’s driver wellbeing program Health in Gear, will use the vehicle to deliver free ‘Truckie Tune Ups’ at the Brisbane Truck Show this week, ahead of a wider industry program that will roll out soon,” said Healthy Heads in Trucks & Sheds CEO Naomi Frauenfelder.

The ‘Truckie Tune Up’ is a comprehensive health check that measures general physical and mental health, cholesterol, blood pressure, height, weight, sleep, exercise and diet. Health measures are taken by a nurse and a trained support officer.

ATA Chair David Smith added that the vehicle would be able to service the industry in many ways through high-impact engagement initiatives at on-site events, industry activations, conferences or at the roadside

“Harnessing its multi-purpose utility, the vehicle will have the capacity to deliver outdoor presentations, on-site health checks, host regional meetings, act as a media hub or serve as a support centre that responds to industry needs in times of crisis,” Smith said.

PACCAR Australia Managing Director Andrew Hadjikakou said the DAF LF260 features a customised body that was built at the Brimarco factory in Ballarat and includes a flexible work, meeting and media space, as well as audio-visual capabilities for external presentations, all powered by a Cummins generator.

“This vehicle showcases the latest technology and safety features our vehicles have to offer,” he said. “Built to the highest standards, we know this vehicle will deliver maximum comfort, control, safety and flexibility for our industry users.”

Mr Hadjikakou added that the opportunities for the vehicle were endless. “Our partnership with Healthy Heads in Trucks & Sheds and OzHelp’s Health in Gear program is just one of the many ways this vehicle can service our industry,” he said.

“We are thrilled to unveil this unique and innovative vehicle and look forward to seeing what can be achieved through its activities in years to come.”
