Truckie Profiles

A great start for this new truckie

“I have been here for six good months so far, and I have to say I love the job, and the outfit and the truck,” Bradley Pearce from Port Sorell told us when he dropped into a local truck stop.

He was driving a CRE 2017 Western Star W5800 SS with a DD15 Detroit up front at the time and towing a drop deck tautliner on his return leg to Burnie from Hobart.

“I actually got my start driving here just six months ago, and I am so grateful they gave me a start and they have certainly been supportive and helpful, and they do look after their drivers, you can’t ask for more than that.

“And I am more and more convinced I made the right choice of a career, as I am loving being out on the road, looking at Tasmania from the cab, and meeting great people along the way.

“Prior to this I was a cabinet maker, which is a skill that will always come in handy, whatever I choose to do in the future. But right now, I see my future here in this industry, so you might say it is all good.”
