Passing through Epping Forest, we caught up with Scott Lowe from Launceston when he rolled in driving a TasFoods 2009 Hino 300 medium refrigerated freezer pan.
He was on his way back to Launceston after doing drops at Saint Helens, Bicheno and Saint Mary’s, and wherever required in between, and he was looking forward to then knocking off for the day.
“We have been mainly delivering dairy products to small businesses down the East Coast, from Avoca, and the truck is perfect for the job, and I do love the job,” he said.
“I’ve been here for three good years now, and they are a top outfit to work for, very helpful and always look after you.
“I’m new on this run and just picking up the drops etc, but I’d have to say I’m enjoying it, there’s a heap of variety and just look at the scenery as well. I’ve been on the road all up for about 27 years, including 15 years on the North Island, and the last 12 years I’ve been driving rigids which I enjoy.
“Previously I was a showman, but with this pandemic the guys are all doing it pretty hard just now, and I am glad I have a job like this, and I do feel sorry for them.”
We asked about time off, and he replied that he takes every opportunity to play darts, and he says that also includes family time, as they are all keen on darts too.
He added, “I’d like to say hello to my brother-in-law ‘Hindsey’, AKA Sean Hinds, and Susan if I may.”
