Scania introduces flexible working arrangements

As Scania Australia aims to improve the work-life balance and job satisfaction of its employees, it’s introduced Flexible Working Arrangements.

While not everyone can work from home, Scania recognises that greater flexibility in rostering shifts, or working a nine-day fortnight might work better for some, particularly for young families where both parents work full time. Or an employee may request adjusted start and finishing times, perhaps to allow time for further study.

Scania’s Flexible Working Arrangements are based on the understanding that one-size does not fit all when it comes to working arrangements.

“With our new Flexible Working Arrangements programme, we’re offering our employees a set of options that helps them achieve more in every day. We believe these arrangements will create a great employee experience and an inclusive workplace where everyone can contribute in a healthy, stimulating and productive way, while working for one of the leading suppliers in the Australian transport industry,” Scania said in a statement.

“When we were honing our Flexible Working Arrangements plan we were careful not to negatively impact our strong collaborative culture.”

Scania said it sees the new arrangements as offering additional horsepower to expand its footprint in Australia and support its drive towards a more sustainable transport system.

“We’re on a strong business growth path and have added around 20 per cent more employees in the past few years, and we are searching continually for high calibre people to join us,” said Michele Gellatly, Scania Australia director of people and culture.

“Flexibility will enhance our attractiveness as a destination employer for ambitious and committed technicians, managers and sales team members.”
