Experts will gather during a live session at TMC Online to discuss the results of the converter dolly’s engineering trial and evaluate how well it performed.
Since the ATA Industry Technical Council developed the prototype rigid drawbar converter dolly in 2019, it’s been put under the microscope time and time again.
It was developed after trucking businesses had raised concerns about the dynamic issues associated with conventional hinged dollies.
Businesses including Volvo Australia, AJM Transport, Fuel Distributors of Western Australia, Fennell Freightlines and Farfields Haulage have now trialled the dolly.
Smedleys Engineers has also evaluated its performance using inertial measurement units, strain gauges and GPS.
The ‘Rigid drawbar converter dolly: Concept proved’ session at TMC Online will be chaired by ATA chair David Smith; and will feature MaxiTRANS engineering support manager Greg Brown and director of Smedley’s Engineers Rob Smedley to discuss the results of the engineering trial.
An early access copy of the engineering report on the trial will also be made available. The ATA’s rigid drawbar converter dolly was developed in partnership with industry suppliers and manufacturers MaxiTRANS, Bridgestone, Hendrickson, JOST, Wabco and Alcoa.
This live TMC Online session will be held at 3.00pm AEST on Monday July 27.
