Queensland Police have doubled down on their crackdown of truckies flouting border pass requirements by releasing bodycam footage of an infringement notice being issued to a driver at the Coomera pads.
Police allege that this 36-year-old removalist failed to comply with Covid-19 border direction (no F-pass), the penalty for which is a $4135 fine.
Officers from Taskforce Sierra Linnet and the Road Policing Command’s Heavy Vehicle Enforcement Team teamed with local police and the TMR in three Queensland border highway locations targeting heavy vehicles and freight compliance at the weekend.
More than 130 heavy vehicles were intercepted at Coomera, Wallangarra and Goondiwindi and 55 vehicles had either travelled without a pass or without relevant documentation.
“We are in a position where we will be enforcing these fines to make a very clear point to the freight industry, we won’t allow Covid-19 to hitch a ride into Queensland on one of these heavy vehicles,” Deputy Commissioner Steve Gollschewski said.
