Vellex Logistics has announced the purchase of family-owned business, NSW Freightlines, as its founders step into retirement.
Based in Ingleburn, NSW Freightlines was started in 1970 by husband and wife duo Joe and Elizabeth Vella, who were later joined by their eldest son Michael, who was most recently at the helm.
The couple built the business from the ground up, starting as an owner operator set-up and growing into an established and well respected transport business, employing over 30 staff and with a fleet of over 30 prime movers and more than 50 trailers.
Ahead of the handover, NSW Freightlines took to Facebook to share the news, “Bittersweet feelings as we hand NSW Freightlines over to its new owners at the end of this week. So many great people made this company what it is today and we thank you all for it. Please join us in wishing the team from Vellex all the best for the future and Mum and Dad can enjoy retirement.”
Also family owned and operated, Vellex Freightlines – headed by Road Freight NSW (RFNSW) chair Austin Vella as managing director – was established in 1985 and provides national freight distribution and logistics solutions.
It too took to social media to share the news. “We are very excited to be able to announce that Vellex Logistics has acquired NSW Freightlines, an established family owned transport and logistics business located at a large facility in Ingleburn NSW,” the company said.
“The current owners Joe, Elizabeth and Michael have assisted greatly with the integration and handover and we wish them the very best for the future.
“The acquisition will provide us with much needed additional operational space in Sydney, and additional equipment to complement our current fleet, as well as allowing us to expand our service offering to include wharf and container cartage.
“The staff of NSW Freightlines will join the Vellex family, and bring with them the expertise and experience to integrate the new services into our business.”
