Expansion pays off for Mavin Hino in Taree

A 2020 Christmas Eve decision has paid dividends for Mavin Hino, according to dealer principal Dean Mavin.

It’s been almost a year since he bought a new site for the expanding dealership in Taree, NSW, and Mavin has no regrets.

“After three years providing parts and service to Hino customers in Taree, it was a natural progression to begin selling trucks to these customers,” said Mavin, whose dealership also has an established branch in Kempsey.

“In the last year, we have seen a continual stream of sales, particularly from industries such as farming, local council and energy, with a specific focus on medium-duty trucks such as the 500 Series Standard Cab.”

Mavin also cited the federal government’s Instant Asset Write-Off scheme as being a significant factor in the decision.

He said the new location also allows the dealership to better service its customers’ sales, parts and service requirements with larger service bays while the impressive 600 m2 floor space including 400 m2 sales display area showcases the Hino product range.

“This has resulted in a continual increase in parts and service sales allowing for the recruitment of additional service technicians and apprentices over the past 18 months,” said Mavin.

“It’s a testament to the dedicated and professional Mavin Hino team that we have been able to achieve these results and continue to provide excellent service our customers expect. The last two years have been a rollercoaster to say the least with bushfires (2020), floods (2021) and, of course, the pandemic and lockdowns.”

Brian Wright, general manager of sales and supply chain for Hino Australia, praised the team’s results and said the decision to add the Taree branch to Hino Australia’s existing 42 sales centres was a strategic one.

Wright and his team are constantly analysing the Australian truck market to understand the needs of their customers, saying that the Mid North Coast of NSW was identified as an area of opportunity, and expanding our existing partnership with Mavin Hino was a logical decision.

“Collectively, Mavin and his team bring decades of experience selling Hino trucks at their Kempsey branch, and we are confident they are well-placed to service the needs of Hino customers along the Mid North Coast,” added Wright.

Hino Australia’s dealership network currently consists of over 65 dealerships and service centres nationwide and growing.
