Truckies will no longer be able to enter Queensland via the Gold Coast Highway dedicated heavy vehicle checkpoint at Bilinga from tomorrow evening.
A notice issued today by the Department of Transport and Main Roads heavy vehicle unit advises that the entry point will be demobilised from 6pm (AEST) on December 2.
Heavy vehicle driver border checks will continue and relocate to the heavy vehicle inspection station on the M1, northbound at Coomera.
While the Gold Coast checkpoint is being dismantled, the Gold Coast Highway will be subject to periods of temporary closure to all vehicles, including heavy vehicles. Road closures are as follows (subject to weather):
- 6pm-5am, (AEST) Thursday, December 2
- 6pm-5am, (AEST) Friday, December 3
VMS boards and traffic control officers will be on-road to assist traffic movement.
During these road closure periods freight and logistics operators will be directed to use the M1 Pacific Motorway check point to enter Queensland.
Access to the Gold Coast Highway will resume from 5am on Saturday.
The heavy vehicle unit also advises that the Caltex Goondiwindi dedicated heavy vehicle Covid-19 testing location is temporarily closed due to flooding and road closures.
TMR will provide further advice when this testing site re-opens.
Visit the Queensland Government COVID-19 freight and logistics webpage to find an alternate COVID-19 testing location.
