River road and Newell highway NSW is now an effective no-go zone with significant river level rises have been observed along the Macintyre River upstream of Toomelah.
The Macintyre River level is expected to reach the major flood level of 12 metres early Friday morning and is likely to peak near 12.8 metres on Friday evening.
NSW SES is now advising residents in Boggabilla and Toomelah to prepare to evacuate. This includes the entire community of Toomelah and properties in Boggabilla on streets surrounded by and including Racecourse Rd, Brown St, South St, McCosker St and including those properties along the Mungindi-Goondiwindi Bridge Road and Newell Highway.
An Evacuation Order will be issued by the NSW SES if evacuation is required.
As flood waters approach, Boggabilla and Toomelah will become isolated with road access cut. As the river nears its predicted peak it is expected that Boggabilla and Toomelah will be inundated by floodwaters.
Depending on how much rain falls in the next couple of days, flooding is expected to continue as water moves down the river systems.
Official SES advice is that if you remain in the area after Friday December 3 at 11.00am, you may become trapped.
If you do require emergency assistance, call 132 500 or check the NSW SES website.
