Campaign aims to boost awareness of transport industry’s vital role

The industry’s umbrella foundation for mental health and wellbeing support has launched an online campaign to help raise awareness of “the people who keep the wheels turning and the country moving”.

Using a series of three short videos, including the one below, Healthy Heads in Trucks and Sheds (HHTS) aims to celebrate those workers in the road transport, warehousing and logistics sectors who facilitate many critical tasks that can easily be forgotten.

“Reminding consumers to think about all the people they don’t see when purchasing goods,” added the HHTS media release to mark the launch of the Healthy Heads Industry Recognition Campaign.

The Healthy Heads Industry Recognition Campaign runs for four weeks, targeting consumers in the lead up to the holiday season and will reach millions of Australians nationwide across a range of digital platforms, said HHTS.

The campaign is funded by the NHVR’s Heavy Vehicle Safety Initiative.

HHTS chief executive officer Naomi Frauenfelder said that by raising public awareness the foundation hopes to fuel the self-esteem of the workforce, which is critical to achieving better mental health outcomes.

“We want all people in this sector to be proud of what they contribute to the broader community, but also for the industry to be a place where everyone can be happy, healthy and thriving in their work life and their personal life,” said Frauenfelder.

“This is something the entire Australian community will benefit from.”

NHVR CEO Sal Petroccitto said the latest HHTS campaign supports improved mental health, safety and wellbeing for truck drivers, distribution centre, and warehouse staff across Australia.

“Truck drivers and workers in the heavy vehicle supply-chain are instrumental in keeping Australia’s economy moving, but their efforts aren’t always visible to those who don’t work in the industry,” said Petroccitto.

“This campaign will help recognise the dedication and commitment of everyone in the sector during what has been a particularly challenging period.

“It will also reinforce the mental health and wellbeing support available and remind everyone to check in with one another – it can be as easy as a phone call.”
