Closure of NSW freight testing sites

COVID-testing

Transport for NSW have advised that a number of freight Covid testing sites will be closing as of next week.

In a release sent to RoadFreight NSW, Transport for NSW noted that with the NSW adult vaccination rate now at over 90 per cent, and the removal of mandatory testing requirements in some jurisdictions meant that demand has consistently fallen at a number of the Freight Covid testing sites.

As a result of the low demand, the Narrabarba, Raglan, Forbes, Dubbo and Branxton sites will be closing on Wednesday 15 December 2021.

The Ballina, Narrandera, Taree, Tarcutta, Marulan and Yass testing sites will continue to operate.  A map of all current testing sites can be found here.

NSW community testing sites also continue to be available and there are also a number of interstate testing sites which can be found on the NHVR COVID testing map.

Across all 11 sites, Transport for NSW has seen a steady decline in testing numbers since the peak in September this year with a 20 per cent decline from October to November.

The removal of mandatory asymptomatic testing for freight workers leaving the Greater Sydney area and those entering Victoria from Green Zones has reduced demand significantly.
