Road Freight NSW CEO Simon O’Hara, one of the first to alert the industry to the looming AdBlue crisis, appeared on the TV show The Project last night to educate the general public about what lies ahead unless a solution is found soon.
Here’s the segment.
“I was appreciative of the opportunity to be able put forward the perspective provided to me by what our operators are telling me everyday,” said O’Hara in a message to RFNSW members today.
“That is, it is time for government to act on this supply chain problem before we face chronic shortages of AdBlue.
“The road freight industry in Australia is unified on this issue and raise this significant problem in the public interest.”
National peak body leaders are due to meet in Canberra today for a ‘strategic roundtable’ to find a solution. With China no longer exporting the key ingredient, urea, many are predicting stocks to run dry as early as February.
“As Gary Mahon [QTA CEO] wrote the other day,” added O’Hara, “government can’t say they are not going into this eyes wide open.”
