Latest Toowoomba Bypass detour details for today from TMR


Until 7pm today, the Department of Transport and Main Roads will close both eastbound lanes of the Toowoomba Bypass, between Charlton and Helidon.

This closure is to facilitate emergency embankment works.

There will also be rolling blockades at this location on the westbound lanes tomorrow. Minor delays can be expected.

A detour is in place for the following heavy vehicles provided a copy of the Approved temporary variation to access the Toowoomba Bypass is used in conjunction with your current permit or notice:

  • Class 1 OSOM vehicles up to 4m wide
  • 26m B-doubles up to HML
  • PBS combinations up to Level 2B at HML

Approved detour eastbound through Toowoomba: Warrego Highway, Troys Road, Carrington Road, Taylor Street, Tor Street, James Street, Toowoomba Connection Road, Warrego Highway.

The detour is not valid for:

  • Road trains
  • Class 1 OSOM vehicles exceeding 4m wide

Road trains are required to break down their combination at Charlton before detouring eastbound through Toowoomba.
