NSW SES this morning issued flood evacuation orders for low lying areas of Ballina and surrounding areas; with those in low lying areas of South Ballina now being told to move to higher ground as it’s too late to leave.
“Rising floodwater is beginning to make it unsafe to evacuate the area. Burns Point Ferry is closed and Wardell Bridge is inundated. You should immediately move to the highest safe place now, such as higher ground or inside a sturdy multi-storey building to upper levels as high above water levels as possible. Do not leave your location unless it is safe to do so,” said NSW SES in an Evacuation Order this morning.
“You may now be trapped without power, water, and other essential services. It may be too dangerous for NSW SES to rescue you.

SES NSW says it expects properties in low lying areas of Ballina, North Ballina, West Ballina, and areas of south of Ballina towards Wardell may be impacted by flooding.
