Oversize movements suspended in south Qld due to severe weather

Due to the recent weather event in South-East Queensland, the Department of Transport and Main Roads has advised that a suspension on all excess mass and dimension movements is now in place for the South Coast District.

This suspension applies to operators of all vehicles that exceed regulation mass and/or dimension and Class 1 Oversize and Overmass vehicles operating throughout the South Coast District.

This suspension will be reviewed on March 9.

Heavy Vehicles with as-of-right access are not restricted.

“Operators of Oversize and Overmass vehicles are recommended to continue to monitor changes in road conditions of affected areas as the road network is assessed and recovery work continues,” said an email from the department’s heavy vehicles’ unit.

“TMR is committed to maintaining ongoing safety for all road users and appreciate your patience during this time.

“We are continuously monitoring, assessing and reviewing our roads, bridges and culverts across Queensland. Conditions can change quickly, particularly due to weather. Restrictions are implemented to maintain ongoing safety for all road users.

“It is your responsibility to make sure you’re using up-to-date information when you assess the suitability of your route.”

TMR also reminds operators to check the Conditions of Operation Database before you start your journey.
