Leading suicide prevention organisation OzHelp is partnering with Healthy Heads in Trucks & Sheds (HHTS) to deliver its truckie wellbeing program around regional NSW this month.
The partnership kicks off at three roadside hubs:
- BP Albury (Northbound), March 16-18
- BP Marulan (Southbound), March 22-24
- Shell Roadhouse Gundagai, March 29-31
Truck drivers should keep an eye out for the Health in Gear Team roadside and the prominent Roadshow DAF LF truck, provided to HHTS by PACCAR, its dealers and the Australian Trucking Association.
The partnership will deliver Health in Gear Truckie Tune Up health checks and wellbeing support, along with the distribution of pocket-sized handbooks with practical mental health and wellbeing tips created by HHTS
Darren Black, CEO of OzHelp, said the partnership is part of an outreach approach to ensure truck drivers get health and wellbeing support, when and where they need it.
“Health in Gear’s Truckie Tune Up provides health checks for truck drivers by a wellbeing support worker and nurse, and offers ongoing support via a 24/7 phone line, and online self-help health and wellbeing resources,” said Black.
More information about Health in Gear is available at healthingear.com.au. To access 24/7 support, truck drivers and their families can call 1800 IN GEAR (1800 464 327).
