From a shortlist of five DAF technicians across Australia, Andrew Patterson of Kenworth DAF Melbourne, has been named PACCAR Australia’s 2022 DAF Technician of the Year.
Chief engineer at PACCAR Australia, Noelle Parlier, and aftersales manager at PACCAR Australia, Richard Saville, presented Patterson with the award, congratulating him on his win and performance on the day.
The search for the 2022 DAF Technician of the Year began in October 2021. All service technicians at DAF dealerships across Australia were invited to participate in the competition, which aimed to recognise and reward the best of the best.
The event consisted of five practical assessments measuring technical skills, product knowledge, engine expertise and professionalism.
Following Patterson closely, was Rudy Linders of Brown & Hurley Kenworth DAF Caboolture in second place and Stephen Monson of CJD Equipment Hobart in third place.
The finals were held over a full day on Friday April 8 at Kenworth DAF Melbourne.
The five practical tests tat were a combination of electrical, mechanical and system testing.
The finalists received over $30,000 worth of prizes, including a voucher for a selection of tools. This year there was an additional incentive with the first placed winner to join the Truck Assist Racing/Matt Stone Racing Team as a garage crew member at this year’s Repco Bathurst 1000.
Additionally, second and third place-getters receive a weekend garage crew experience with Truck Assist Racing/Matt Stone Racing Team at the NTI Townsville 500 Supercars event.
