Major Queensland highway closed due to flooding

As heavy rainfall and flooding continues to impact many parts of Queensland, a major highway has been added to the growing list of road closures.

The Department of Transport and Main Roads Queensland has this morning advised that the Warrego Highway has been cut off by floodwater at Glenore Grove.

“The road is closed to all traffic between Forest Hill Fernvale Road and Maroney Road. We’ll keep you updated but please make sure you check QLDTraffic for the latest and as always,” the Department said on its Facebook page.

“Queensland Police Service are urging Queenslanders to consider whether they really need to be driving today. We’re experiencing widespread flash flooding so please – if you do need to travel make sure you check www.qldtraffic.qld.gov.au before you head out.”

The Bureau of Meteorology also advises that a Severe Weather Warning is current for heavy rainfall for communities in Wide Bay and Burnett, Southeast Coast and parts of Capricornia and Darling Downs and Granite Belt areas.
