Queensland transport company closes its doors as owner retires

A Queensland transport company operating since the 1980s will hit the roads for the very last time as its owner prepares for his next chapter.

Based in Crestmead, Queensland, Armitage Transport has been servicing the south east of the state and beyond for over 30 years.

For the past 18 years, it’s been owned and run by David Gannon – but now the time has come for him to embark on a new stage, as he prepares for retirement.

The company’s entire modern fleet will now be going under the hammer, with everything from prime movers, flat bed trucks and semi-trailers to cranes, low loaders, specialised trailers, forklifts and more up for grabs at the Grays unreserved auction from Thursday June 9.

Having taken great pride in his multimillion-dollar fleet, all items are well maintained and in great condition.

“I’ve long used Grays to buy vehicles and equipment, some of which are now for sale as part of this auction. When it came to selling my entire fleet, it was an easy choice to trust it to Grays. We’ve always taken great care of our assets, and we’re pleased to see them go to work for new owners,” said Gannon.

Some of the highlight of the auction include:

  • 2018 Volvo FE with Hyva HB100E4 Crane
  • 2016 Volvo FM11 with Palfinger Crane
  • 2020 Volvo FM500
  • 2009 Southern Cross Extendable Trailer
  • 2008 Moore Extendable Trailer
  • 2000 Franna MAC25 25T Crane
  • 2018 Volvo FE 6 x 2 Tilt tray with Hyva HB100E4

“Grays are so proud to have been selected by David as his trusted partner to assist him through this process,” added Jake Samios from Grays.

“We are extremely excited to bring these highly desirable assets to market, especially during the current dynamic conditions. Supply lines for new vehicles and equipment are stressed, so we expect demand to be high for these quality, late-model and work-ready assets.”

The auction will be held from 4pm on June 9 until 7pm on June 15. For more detail, please click here. Inspections are welcome and available Monday to Friday at 9am to 3pm.
