There are two possible changes on the cards for vehicle approval documents issued under the PBS scheme, which aim to reduce administrative complexity.
The NHVR has released two discussion papers looking at possible changes to vehicle approval documents issued under the PBS scheme.
The first of these changes would involve removing the operator name from the Vehicle Approval document and the second is removing the spec tables from the approval document and replacing them with a simpler table providing details of the vehicles in the combination.
Removing operator names from vehicle approvals would simplify the process of transferring vehicles between operators and help to address problems where sub-contractors use PBS vehicles owned by other companies.
The aim of removing the spec table is designed to reduce the workload for PBS certifiers. This would reduce the size of the vehicle approval documents by around 30 per cent.
Copies of the discussion papers have been sent to stakeholders, with the NHVR seeking comment on the proposed change by July 5, 2022.
