A 59-year-old truck driver tragically lost his life last week after being crushed by a tipper trailer while attempting to fix it.
It is understood that the driver, who is yet to be identified, was working to free a pneumatic strut on the trailer after delivering a load to a construction site when the tipper lowered onto him.
The incident occurred in the suburb of Wollert in Melbourne’s north, at around 2.15pm last Friday.
Police said his death is not suspicious and WorkSafe Victoria is now investigating the incident.
According to WorkSafe, this is sadly the seventh truck-related workplace fatality in Victoria this year.
