Five days of double demerits for NSW

NSW Police have issued a reminder that double demerit points have been put in place across the state ahead of the National Day of Mourning for Her Majesty the Queen and the start of the September school holidays.

Double-demerit points began at 12.01am today (Wednesday September 21) and will be in place until 11:59pm on Sunday September 25, 2022.

School zones will remain in place on Wednesday September, 21 and Friday September 23.

“Police will continue to patrol metropolitan and regional areas, targeting high-risk behaviours, including drink, drug, dangerous and distracted driving,” said NSW Police.

WA will also have double demerit points enforced over the upcoming long weekend. Monday’s public holiday, previously known as the Queen’s Birthday public holiday, will now be known as the King’s Birthday public holiday.

In WA, double demerits will run from 12.01am on Friday, September 23 and remain in place until 11.59pm on Monday September 26.
