Truck show postponed due to flood situation

As Australia’s eastern states continue to grapple with heavy rain and rising flood waters, a truck show due to be held this weekend will be postponed.

The 2022 Deniliquin Truck Show & Industry Expo, Deniliquin & District Transport Wall of Fame inductee dinner and memorial service were due to take place this Saturday and Sunday in the town of Deniliquin, in NSW’s Riverina, not far from the Victorian border.

Show president John Creenuane announced the news via social media, “The current situation in surrounding towns impacted by the rapidly rising flood waters over the weekend has taken a toll on a large number of supporters including suppliers, trade site holders, event sponsors and patrons,” he said.

“Our committee has decided the best way forward is to postpone the event this year and reschedule to a new date in 2023.

“We hope that you understand this decision was a hard call and while most areas of Deniliquin are not currently impacted by flooding and plans were underway to move to a new location to ensure the show continued we feel a postponement was the right thing to do for all involved.”

Creenuane added that the committee was in the process of contacting those with bookings and sponsorships.

A new date will be announced in due course.
