One of the biggest events of its kind for NSW truckies, the Convoy for Kids Sydney, is rolling again this Sunday, October 30.
The convoy is a road transport institution, raising funds for the sick kids of Sydney for over 30 years.
“Every year, the Convoy for Kids Sydney, sees truck drivers and transport operators come together to raise money for sick kids,” said Mark Smallwood, the Convoy for Kids committee president.
“We hope people continue to register vehicles for the convoy, whether you operate a fleet, drive a bus, a truck a hot rod or a motorcycle, come and join the convoy. The convoy is truckies caring for kids.”
The convoy will gather at the Sydney Dragway from 5am and roll at 7am to the Hawkesbury Showground at Clarendon with a family fun day featuring rides, stalls and plenty of polished chrome for everyone to enjoy.
Currently, the Convoy for Kids Sydney donates funds to the Newborn and Paediatric Emergency Transport Service (NETS), providing them the opportunity for them to purchase new equipment.
Convoys in the past have seen NETS supplied with items like a Terason uSmart Tablet Ultrasound System for newborns, an ambulance vehicle and a Neonatal Electric Trolley.
“It’s a special day, and we are asking you to be involved, bring your family,” added Smallwood.
“We have been running this since 1992. Today, 30 years later, we are still a volunteer committee who spend time to put together one special day, as not only a fundraiser but also a family day for all.”
Funds raised on convoy day come from sponsorships, vehicle entries, sales of food and merchandise. The event’s supporters and sponsors are: AirRoad, Winston, TruckMate, Gilbert and Roach, The Transport Workers’ Union of NSW, GRS Towing, I’m In The Right, Sydney Dragway and Bannerworld.
