Truckies are advised of changed traffic conditions on the Pacific Highway at Purfleet, NSW, to carry out road resurfacing on the access road to Taree Service Centre.
To reduce impact to drivers, Transport for NSW says work will be carried out from 6pm on Tuesday, December 6, to 6am on Wednesday, December 7, weather permitting.
Heavy vehicles will not be able to access the service centre during work hours and operators are advised that the nearest alternative rest areas will be:
- The township of Coolongolook, 40km south of the Taree Service Centre (about 25 minutes)
- The Port Macquarie Service Centre at Thrumster, about 70km north of the Taree Service Centre (about 43 minutes)
Electronic messaging will be in place along the highway to inform heavy vehicle drivers of the closure.
“Transport for NSW thanks motorists for their patience during this time,” said the notice to industry.
The freight team at TfNSW says that if the work by Midcoast Council isn’t completed on Tuesday night, it will be carried out the following night.
“We will notify you again by email on Wednesday morning if the work needs to extend to Wednesday night.
“Electronic messages along the Pacific Highway will also be updated to inform drivers.”
