TWAL awards life membership to Denis Robertson

Last night in Sydney at their end of year dinner, Transport Women Australia Limited (TWAL) awarded life membership to Denis Robertson.

Unstinting in his support of the association for almost two decades, Denis has been the auctioneer at most conferences, is always available for advice and mentoring and provides pro bono freight services when TWAL is in need of them.

“Unfortunately for him and fortunately for TWAL, his willingness to assist has sometimes sent him on a wild goose chase.” said chair Jacquelene Brotherton.

The presentation was a complete surprise to Denis as the board and his family managed to keep the secret.

He was joined at the dinner by his wife, Lois, his children, Carla, Geoff and Mark and his son-in-law, Corey.

“He was presented with a plaque and a beautiful bunch of flowers, to everyone’s amusement and his embarrassment,” added Brotherton.

“Well, we do give flowers when we give awards to  our female members.”

This is the second life membership conferred by TWAL this year after they honoured former chair, Pam McMillan in June at their Driving the Difference conference.
