A tree proved to be the cause of some headaches for a small fleet driver who lost a muffler from his Western Star whilst driving at Eaglehawk Neck in southern Tasmania.
Roadworks were being done and the truck was directed to the half lane of the road that was still operating.
Alas, his muffler was ripped off by a low laying limb and would have cost $700 to replace plus labour.
But thankfully, the company doing the roadworks was happy to come to the party. They contacted the truckie and offered to replace the muffler – which they did.
“They couldn’t have been nicer to me,” said the truckie.
