Queensland Fire and Emergency Services has shared footage of emergency service crews travelling on the back of a tipper, which was used to rescue 19 people stranded on the Bruce Highway at Lethebrook, south of Proserpine.
Fire and Rescue Service (FRS) swiftwater technicians worked together with SES personnel, the Queensland Police Service and Whitsunday Regional Council to bring those people back to safety.
Parts of the Bruce Highway had been closed due to flooding but Transport and Main Roads Queensland today advised that it has reopened, under traffic control.
Flooding has also subsided at Lethebrook and Goorganga Plains, allowing travel from Mackay through to Proserpine.
