The Victorian Transport Association (VTA) has announced the opening of registration for its State Conference 2023, which will be held at Silverwater Resort, Phillip Island, from Sunday 19 to Tuesday March 21.

According to the VTA, the event is its most important professional development and networking event.

“The theme of our Conference this year is People First – Managing Transport’s Greatest Asset,” said VTA CEO Peter Anderson.

“It has been selected in considered recognition of the many challenges our industry faces from a human resources, labour, training, and skills perspective, with most operators having experienced difficulties associated with worker shortages in our industry.

“The theme also acknowledges the tremendous value that transport workers at every level provide to their operator and supplier employers, underscoring the importance of attracting and retaining transport workers for the long-term,” Anderson said.

The VTA says the speaker and presenter line-up will range from government, regulators, operators, and suppliers, who will address conference delegates on human resources, labour shortages, and other issues, including transport infrastructure, safety, technology, equipment, and industrial relations.

“Formal Conference sessions will be interspersed with a range of networking and hospitality sessions, providing delegates with ample opportunity to socialise and gain new contacts from across the industry,” added Anderson.

“A trade exhibition during the Conference will feature new products and innovations from a range of industry suppliers, and we anticipate having the latest prime movers and associated equipment from domestic and international original equipment manufacturers.”

The VTA will share a provisional program and speaker updates over the over the coming weeks.
