The Victorian Transport Association (VTA) has announced WA Senator Glenn Sterle and Victorian Senator Bridget McKenzie will be addressing delegates at its State Conference.
The VTA State Conference 2023 will be held from March 19-21 at Silverwater Resort, Phillip Island.
“Senator Sterle is a great friend of the VTA and a well-known advocate for the transport industry,” said VTA CEO Peter Anderson.
“He will be addressing delegates in his capacity of Chair of the Senate’s Rural Regional Affairs and Transport Legislation Committee, where he has long advocated for safety and improved conditions for drivers and operators.”
Anderson added that Sterle has long professed his passion for jobs, workplace safety, and fair working conditions, making his presence and anticipated remarks especially relevant to the Conference theme of People First – Managing Transport’s Greatest Asset.
“We appreciate Glenn representing the Commonwealth Government at the conference this year.”
Bridget McKenzie was appointed Shadow Minister for Infrastructure, Transport and Regional Development after the last federal election and is Leader of the Nationals in the Senate, having been first elected to Parliament in 2010.
“Senator McKenzie is well-known to many, having served as a minister across several portfolios including Rural Health, Sport, Regional Communications, Agriculture and others as a cabinet member of successive coalition governments,” Anderson said.
“I have had the pleasure of meeting with her since her appointment and she has shown a very keen and genuine interest in the many issues impacting operators. We look forward to welcoming the Senator to her first VTA State Conference.”
