Tasmania’s Bass Highway will be temporarily closed tomorrow March 8, as police investigate a fatal crash that occurred last month.
Both the east and west bound lanes of the Bass Highway, near Deloraine, will be closed to traffic between 1.45 and 2.30pm.
A traffic diversion via Deloraine will be in place during the closure period. All light vehicle traffic will be diverted through Mole Creek Road into Deloraine.
This detour is however not available to any heavy vehicle greater than 36 tonne.
The Tasmanian Transport Association (TTA) says the advice at present is that any heavy vehicle not suited to the diversion will be parked up at the Bass Highway, until the investigation is complete. Frankford Road may be an alternative for some vehicles and configurations.
