As part of the $301.25 million Bruce Highway Upgrade – Maroochydore Road and Mons Road Interchanges project, both directions of the eastern service road are expected to open in in the coming weeks, between Sandalwood Lane and the BP on Mons Road.
The service roads were partially opened in December, with work continuing to connect Maroochydore Road and Mons Road interchanges on the eastern and western sides of the Bruce Highway.
“The two-way roads will get Forest Glen and Chevallum motorists to their destination sooner and safer with significant improvements delivered in safety and efficiency,” said Member for Nicklin, Rob Skelton.
The western service road, known locally as Chevallum Road, will follow, with traffic able to travel in both directions between Mons Road and Leafy Lane.
Assistant Minister for Regional Roads, Bruce Saunders, added, “We’re also delivering major projects like the $663 million Caboolture to Steve Irwin Way Bruce Highway upgrade, the $550 million Beerburrum to Nambour rail upgrade, and the $320 million Mooloolah River Interchange upgrade on the Sunshine Motorway.”
