Driving along with the Anzac spirit

A new purpose-built truck is carrying the Anzac message across the Wollongong area, between the Illawarra Escarpment and the Pacific Ocean.

The truck was recently commissioned by Tony Johnston, owner-director of Worldwide Demolitions & Skip Bins, to commemorate the Anzac spirit.

The truck was designed with help from Mark Micallef from West-Trans Equipment at Mulgrave, Adam Lewis from Suttons Isuzu and Smeaton Grange-based Sloanebuilt Trailers.

“I think we should all celebrate the commitment that the ANZACs have made for us. I don’t want it to be ever forgotten what they did for us. So that’s sort of why that was the inspiration behind that. Keping the Anzac spirit going is a sign of respect for us,” Johnston said.

The truck will be assigned to picking up skip bags in the Wollongong area.

“We are always encouraging more women drivers to join the workforce and the transport industry in general. We’re proud to say that our new truck will be driven by one of our two lady drivers, Dee Gavin, who has been working with us for nearly three months now,” added Johnston.
