A fiery crash at around 4.30am this morning, involving three trucks, has closed the Pacific Highway in both directions on NSW’s mid-north coast.
Police are investigating the incident which occurred at Verges Creek, about 10km north of Kempsey.
Thankfully no one was seriously hurt, however one of the drivers was taken to hospital with minor injuries.
NSW Rural Fire Service said, “On arrival, crews found two trucks well alight and worked throughout the morning to extinguish them. All of the truck drivers are accounted for.”
The third truck suffered structural damage in the accident, but wasn’t caught in the blaze.
Traffic diversions have been put in place as emergency service crews work to clear the accident. Motorists are being advised to avoid the area.
As at 11am, the highway remained closed with Live Traffic sharing, “There is no forecast for when the highway will reopen. Motorists should allow extra travel time through the area as traffic is heavy through Kempsey.”
Traffic is being diverted along Macleay Valley Way, through Kempsey.
