What’s on: upcoming trucking events near you

Here are some key trucking events to add to your calendar over the next few weeks.

Convoy for The Cure

Convoy for the Cure Townsville is a truck and motorcycle fundraiser event to be held on Sunday, May 28. The event supports The Cure Starts Now Australia, a charity dedicated to finding new holistic cures in Australian paediatric cancer research. Entry is $100 per truck and $30 per motorcycle with donations in lieu of entry to the event. On Saturday, May 27, those who have entered via donation can collect the special ‘convoy number plates’ from Brown & Hurley Trucks, 662 Ingham Road, Bohle, Qld. There are awards for small fleets (four trucks or less) and large fleets (five trucks or more). There is also the position of lead truck which is the highest individual fundraiser of the event. These three entries have a cut-off of midday on May 27. Winners will be announced via Power100 FM radio and on Convoy for The Cure’s social media page.

Putty Road Truck Drivers Memorial Service

Held at Garry Miller Memorial Park, Putty Rd, Milbrodale. Service starts at 1pm. Local school providing refreshments from 11am. Casino Truck Show

Show sponsored by North Coast Petroleum. The Highway Lights Parade will roll through Johnston and Centre Streets from 10am on Saturday. Truck registrations ($30 each) from 6am at the Casino Industrial Area on the town’s east side. Includes live music, amusements and markets. Over $12,000 in cash and prizes. Presentation at 2pm. Plus plenty of blinged up trucks from all across Australia will be parked in the CBD. Bobtail and rigid trucks only.

The National Road Transport Hall has announced the 2023 Australian Festival of Transport. The four-day event will include welcoming the new inductees onto the prestigious Shell Rimula Wall of Fame and the Legends Gala Dinner that will incorporate the first annual ‘Transport Women Unite Red Ball’ on Saturday night. The Red Ball will also be host to the inaugural Transport Women Dream Maker Award. This award is to recognise the women in the industry who work behind the scenes, and help those who front the organisation to achieve their dreams, whether it be an owner/operator, a family business or a large company.
