Truck driver charged after dangerous driving caught on dashcam

A truckie whose dangerous driving was caught on camera, while travelling down the Old Northern Road at Glenorie, in Sydney’s north-west, has been charged and will appear in court next month.

At about 1pm on Friday, June 23, officers from The Hills Police Area Command received a report of a truck driving in a dangerous manner, including performing an illegal overtaking manoeuvre, on the Old Northern Road at Glenorie.

In the dashcam footage, a truck can be seen crossing over double white lines and narrowly missing an oncoming SUV.

Following extensive inquiries, investigators attended a trucking company in Revesby just after 8am on Monday morning.

Officers from Traffic and Highway Patrol Command commenced inquiries to identify the driver of the vehicle.

Khoda Mokbel, 41, was arrested shortly after and spoken to by police, who allege he underwent a drug test that returned a positive reading at the depot.

He was taken to Bankstown Police Station where it’s alleged that a secondary test also returned a positive reading, which will undergo further analysis before any action is taken.

The Padstow man was charged with drive recklessly/furiously or speed/manner dangerous and granted conditional bail to appear at Parramatta Local Court on Thursday July 20, 2023.

He was also given a 24-hour prohibition notice from driving.
