Truckie killed in two-truck crash at Moranbah, Queensland

A 46-year-old Moranbah driver has died in a two-vehicle crash at Moranbah, west of Mackay, on Sunday morning (August 27).

Initial police investigations indicate at around 9.40am, a prime mover was travelling southbound along Moranbah Access Road, near Cunningham Way, before it crashed with a road train truck travelling northbound.

The driver of the prime mover was declared deceased at the scene, while the road train driver, a 56-year-old Southbrook man, was taken to Moranbah Hospital before being flown by helicopter to Mackay Base Hospital with a serious head injury and lacerations, according to RACQ CQ Rescue statement.

The Forensic Crash Unit is investigating the circumstances of the crash and is appealing to anyone who may have witnessed the crash or have relevant dashcam/CCTV vision to come forward.

According to a Daily Mercury report, Moranbah Access Rd has been the scene of multiple close calls and accidents in recent years.
