Followmont Transport has opened a new facility in Warwick, bringing the number of company owned depots to 24.
Managing director of the family-owned transport operation, Mark Tobin, said the decision to establish a depot in Warwick is part of the company’s aim to continually improve efficiency and service.
“As part of our continuous improvement journey, we evaluated our operations in Toowoomba and recognised an opportunity to enhance efficiency and service capabilities,” he said.
“Opening the new Warwick depot refines our network operations and provides an even better service to our customers.”
Although modest in size, Followmont says the Warwick facility builds on the success and growth in Toowoomba, extending reach while alleviating the task on existing operations.
“This journey has been about capability building,” Tobin added.
“Our strategy of providing unparalleled service prompted us to explore options that would not only enhance our capabilities but also have a positive impact on the environment.
“By strategically distributing these depots, we can reduce the number of vehicles on the road and increase our overall efficiency.”
Tobin said that Followmont’s agility as a family business enabled quick decision-making following an internal report conducted by the team.
“We’re not driven by the desire to be the biggest. Our focus remains on creating a network that is efficient, reliable, and responsive to our customers’ needs,” he said, adding that the opening of the Warwick depot is part of a broader vision to refine the company’s network operations and explore new and better ways of serving its customers.
