There will be upcoming closures to Wurundjeri Way and Dudley Street in both directions, to allow the West Gate Tunnel Project to commence construction of a new bridge and elevated roadway.
Between October 6 and December 2, Wurundjeri Way will be closed to all traffic in both directions between Bourke Street and Dudley Street; and Dudley Street will be closed to all traffic in both directions between Spencer Street and Footscray Road.
During this time, Metro Tunnel works will also close eastbound lanes on La Trobe Street between Elizabeth Street and Swanston Street, while sewer main works will also create disruptions to lanes on Elizabeth Street between Little LaTrobe and LaTrobe Streets.
Detour routes will be eastbound on the M1 onto Lorimer Street to head back to Webb Dock or exit the M1 at Montague Street to re-enter the M1 heading west to go at Todd Road.
VicRoads says these closures will put pressure on the road and public transport networks, particularly in and around the CBD.
“During this time of disruption, we are asking the transport industry and partners to adhere to a road

works exclusion zone that takes in key arterials across Melbourne,” VicRoads said.
“This exclusion zone is designed to help the community navigate the expected busy conditions. An exclusion zone means that arterial roads will flow more freely, resulting in less incidents and minimising delays. The exclusion zone is designed specifically to reduce the impacts of these disruptions on the community.”
