A disqualified truck driver will face Campbelltown Local Court today charged after drugs were seized by police following a crash in Sydney’s south-west.
About 1.30am on Tuesday, September 26, emergency services were called to the Hume Highway at Menangle, following reports a truck had rolled and one of its spare tyres had crashed into a Volkswagen Golf sedan.
The driver of the Volkswagen, a 45-year-old woman, was not injured.
The truck driver, a 42-year-old man, was taken to Liverpool Hospital under police guard for assessment.
Officers from Campbelltown City Police Area Command established a crime scene and commenced an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident.
During a search of the truck, investigators allegedly located 2.2kg of heroin, 1,4-Butanediol, and a mobile phone. These were seized to undergo forensic examination.
The 42-year-old man was discharged from hospital yesterday, September 27, and was taken to Campbelltown Police Station.
He was charged with possess prohibited drug, supply large commercial quantity prohibited drug, drive motor vehicle during disqualification period, supply indictable quantity prohibited drug, and refused bail.
Investigations continue.
