Kilcoy Konvoy a huge success

The Kilcoy Konvoy was back with a bang this year, as hundreds of people turned up to take part in the fun.

The day kicked off with a convoy through the Queensland town, arriving at the Kilcoy Showgrounds where some 170 trucks were judged across 18 categories.

Organiser Linsie Dawes said she was delighted with the turnout, given it was the first time the show ran independently as opposed to in conjunction with another event.

“It was fabulous. There was a spectacular amount of trucks that turned out and there was a great atmosphere.”

“On the route there were lots of spectators along the roads, which was very cool to see.”

Rig of the Show was awarded to G&D Richards Transport’s Kenworth 909. Their driver Kris Bridge also went home with the prize for Best Bling.

G&D Richards said: “We are so appreciative of our drivers, and so proud of the company we are creating.

“We are so thankful Kris came on board with us, he is an absolute asset to our fleet and the perfect fit for our 909!”

Also happening at the event were “truckie challenges”, where truck drivers had to park as close to a marker as possible, along with kids’ entertainment.

“We had rides in a truck for kids and they absolutely loved that, they thought it was the best thing ever,” Deasy added.

The total amount of money raised by the event has yet to be confirmed, but proceeds will go towards community events as well as a local boy who needs an operation to be able to hear.
