Truckies should take note of the temporary closure of three popular rest areas on the Newell Highway between Dubbo and Boggabilla between October 30 and December 2.
Transport for NSW issued a notice today (October 23) advising the industry that it would be “upgrading” toilets at the three sites below.
Marthaguy Rest Area: October 30-November 4.
Tookey Creek Rest Area: November 13-18.
North Star Rest Area: November 27-December 2.
Marthaguy and North Star will be closed completely during these dates from 7am to 5pm, but parking is available at Tookey Creek while the upgrades are underway.

Update – October 24, 5pm
A TfNSW spokesperson told us that crews will demolish existing toilet blocks and replace them with new ones at each of the sites.
During this replacement work, Marthaguy Rest Area will be closed completely from 7am on October 30 to 5pm on November 4, as the area will be used for storing materials.
Parking will be available but the toilets will be closed from 7am on 13 November 13-18 at Tookey Creek.
The North Star Rest Area toilet block will be closed from November 27 until December 2 for the work. The remainder of the area will be open to traffic.
These closures will apply 24/7 for the duration of the works.
