Police are appealing for information following a truck rollover in Sydney’s south-west today.
Emergency services were called to the M7 at Horsley Park at about 8.30am this morning, following reports of a single-vehicle crash after a tabletop truck flipped on the motorway.
On arrival at the scene, officers from Fairfield City Police Area command found an unoccupied tabletop truck lying on its side, as well as a diesel spillage on the road.
Two men, thought to be the driver and passenger, reportedly fled before the police could get there.
Police have now figured out that the truck pulled in at a service station on The Horsley Drive, Horsley Park a short time before the accident – and stole about $6,300 worth of diesel.
Police said in a statement: “A crime scene has been established and an investigation into the circumstances surrounding is underway.
“The driver – a man believed to be in his 30s or 40s – is described as being of medium build, last seen wearing a white cap, orange/black Hi-Vis t-shirt, orange/yellow shorts and grey shoes.
“The passenger – a man believed to be in his 20s or 30s – is described as being of medium build, wearing a dark blue/black coloured hooded jacket.”
Any witnesses or anyone who may have dash cam vision is encouraged to contact police or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
They can also be charged for not securing their load .
It will be interesting to find out if it was a fake licence they used to hire the truck
