Hino Motor Sales Australia has issued a recall notice for hybrid models in its 300 Series due to a software defect.
Hino said a warning message that indicates when the automatic clutch unit (ACU) motors require replacement may not operate as intended. This may cause the ACU to stop functioning and result in a loss of motive power.
“A loss of motive power could increase the risk of an accident causing serious injury or death to vehicle occupants and/or other road users,” the notice said.
There are 744 affected units in the year range 2011-2023.
When parts become available, Hino said it will contact affected owners in writing requesting they make an appointment with their nearest authorised Hino dealer to rectify their vehicle, free of charge.
