Truckie, 48, dies in two-truck collision near Griffith, NSW

Tragically, another truckie has lost his life on the Surt Highway in NSW.

The latest incident occurred at about 10.30pm on Friday, December 1, said NSW Police.

Emergency services responded to reports of a crash on the Sturt Highway, near Kidman Way, Darlington Point, about 40km south of Griffith.

Officers attached to Murrumbidgee Police District attended and found two trucks had collided head-on with the drivers of both vehicles trapped.

Police rendered assistance to a 48-year-old man before NSW Ambulance paramedics attended; however, sadly he died at the scene.

A 28-year-old man was treated at the scene before being taken to Griffith Base Hospital in a stable condition.

Police established a crime scene to investigate the circumstances surrounding the crash.

As inquiries continue, anyone who may have witnessed the incident, or has dashcam vision is urged to contact police or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.

A report will be prepared for the information of the coroner.

It’s the latest in a spate of recent crashes on the Sturt.

On November 22 a young truck driver was killed when three trucks collided near Carathool.
